The world lost an angel on earth and gained one in heaven when Jean Fiedler, 88, passed on December 22, 2018, surrounded by the lucky ones, her children and grandchildren.

Jean was born to Ray and Regina (Schauer) Kiefer on February 10, 1930, in Green Bay.  She graduated valedictorian of her class from both St. Joseph Academy High School and the College of St. Teresa where she received a B.A. in social work.  She married Robert Fiedler May 16, 1953.  They raised seven children and were married for fifty years.  Her professional life included being a child welfare worker for Green Bay Diocese Apostolate, assistant to the registrar at UWGB, and, in her late seventies, award winning historical interpreter at Heritage Hill Historical Park.

Jean became a runner at age 48 when her daughters gave her running shoes and a jogging suit for Christmas.  She went on to win many trophies in 16 Bellin 10 K's, three Bolder Boulder's, placing first in her age division, and several mini triathlons.  She completed her final 10 K when she was 74 years old.

Jean was an avid volunteer and leader in her church, St. Agnes Parish, the Serra Club, St. John's Homeless Shelter, and showed up to wash dishes for Thanksgiving Day at Lambeau Field through 2018.  Interested in everything, she had numerous other social engagements, friendships and family relationships.

Jean is survived by her children, Polly Fiedler, Anna (Shaun) Symond, Hans (Wendy) Fiedler, Laurie (Craig) Ellis, Carrie (Ted) Gusmer, Mark (Jessica) Fiedler, Mary (Jim Brown) Fiedler; eleven grandchildren; her sisters, Kathryn (Robert) Peot and Ann (Roger) Dornburg; a brother John (Jean) Kiefer; nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fiedler, her parents, Ray and Regina Kiefer, brothers, Ray Kiefer Jr., Peter Kiefer and Rev. David Kiefer.

Jean's infectious optimism, enthusiasm, strong faith and kind heart touched the lives of everyone she met.  She lived by her motto, “Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! This is the Day the Lord has made.  Let Us be Glad and Rejoice.  Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!”.
