Harvey J. Plansky, 90, Green Bay resident, joined Jesus Christ on the eve of His birthday, December 24, 2018, following a brief illness. He was born June 10, 1928, in Slovan, Wisconsin, to the late Edward and Lillian (Marek) Plansky Sr. He was an Algoma High School graduate and shortly after graduating began his service to our country. He was proud to have served in the Merchant Marines from August 1, 1945, until his honorable discharge from the US Air Force on April 12, 1955. Following his discharge, he began a career with IBM and earned 3 service awards. Harvey married the former Joyce Reedy on July 23, 1960, at St Francis Xavier Cathedral      

 Following his retirement in 1989, Harvey enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events and musical events. He was an avid fan of the Packers as well as the Bullfrogs. Harvey volunteered for the Civil Defense, working numerous Packer games including the Ice Bowl. He was a master gardener and a member of the Green Bay Gardeners Club receiving 3 Silver Trowel awards. Harvey was also a member of the Baylanders Barbershop Chorus, the Green Bay Preble Optimist Club, enjoyed golfing and bicycling and was a member of VFW Winiecki Post #9677.

 Harvey was a man of strong faith and known to be a comforter to those in need. Harvey and Joyce were currently members of St. Willebrord Parish.

 He is survived by his wife Joyce, their son, Dennis and four daughters: Mary (Arno) Jacobsen; Anna (Steve Wilson) Plansky; Julie (Andy) Klika and Amy (Steve) Navarre, all of Green Bay; six grandchildren: Carissa, Samantha and Nick Klika, Justine (Ben) Wozniczka, Sarah and Ben Navarre; one brother, Don (Shirley) Plansky, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

 Harvey was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Dachelet and three brothers, Gilbert, Edward and Robert.

 Friends may call at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St. after 9:00 am Monday, December 31, until time of Mass. Funeral Mass 10:30 am Monday at the church with Fr. Andrew Cribben O.Praem officiating and Fr. Kenneth DeGroot O.Praem concelebrating. Entombment at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund has been established in his name.

 Harvey’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff at St. Vincent Hospital’s 6th ICU and 9th floor nurses and staff. Also, to Unity Hospice for their gentle care and support.
