Genevieve Ione (Singleton) Baumgart, 90, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019.  She was born July 30, 1929, in Hicksville, Ohio to Dearl and Ila (Saylor) Singleton.  Her athleticism was apparent from an early age.  Gen graduated from Hicksville High School where she played baseball and ran track.  Gen married Raymond Francies, a Lutheran pastor, and the two moved from town to town, raising a family of four before finally settling at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Green Bay.  After their divorce, Gen demonstrated a good head for numbers while employed in the banking and tax industries.  She became a farmer’s wife on August 20, 1976, marrying Anthony Baumgart, a widow with 10 children.  Gen and Tony lived on the Pulaski homestead for years. Her faith in God remained steady throughout her life and she was currently a member at Peace Lutheran Church in Kunesh.

Gen prided herself on loving her family.  Every person she came in contact with was touched by her sweet and gentle kindness.  She enjoyed tending her vegetable garden, reading romance novels, travelling, and working sudoku and crossword puzzles.  Gen was known for her tasty Angel Food and Peanut Butter Balls recipes.  Over the course of her life, she gave time and treasure to the Salvation Army, especially during the bell ringing season, to the point she was recognized by the Salvation Army Central Territory Historical Museum in Chicago.  Even though dementia had lightened the load of her memories, she remained a warm-hearted (and flirtatious) lady.

Gen is survived by four children, Stephen (Phyllis) Francies, Renee (Heinz) Florin, Catherine (Steve) Wagner, Rebekah (Clint) Taylor; her step-children, Mary (Chuck) Johnson, Bill (Judy) Baumgart, Dick (Sheri) Baumgart, Joy (Steve) Steenport, Paul Baumgart, Patti (Mark) Gazella, Susie Mielcarek, Ruth (Jim) Eliason, Barb (Leon) Peterik, a step-daughter-in-law, Audrey Baumgart; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings.

She was preceded in death by her beloved Tony on September 11, 2005; two step-sons, Danny and Mike; her parents, several grandchildren and siblings.
