Wayne E. Zirbel

Wayne Eldor Zirbel, 82, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020, with his family at his side. He was born in Maplewood, WI, April 7, 1937, to the late Eldor and Helen (Cihlar) Zirbel. Wayne graduated from Algoma High School class of 1955. He went on to proudly serve his country with the United States Army from 1956 – 1958. On May 28, 1960, he married Nancy Guth at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Maplewood. Wayne started employment with Charmin Paper Mill in 1967 and after 28 years of dedicated service he retired in 1996. Wayne enjoyed playing cards, perch fishing on the pontoon, and being with his family. He was an avid Packer and Brewer fan and frequented the casinos.

Wayne will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Zirbel, Green Bay, his children; Brian (Sandy) Zirbel of Camp Hill, PA, Linda (Ben) Selner Ashwaubenon, WI, Tim Zirbel, Grafton, WI, Jon (Julie) Zirbel of Luxemburg, WI; grandchildren, Kayla (Nick) Young, Andrew Zirbel, Brandon (Elizabeth) Selner, Brent (special friend Courtney Calewarts) Selner, Bryan Selner, Eric (Tina) Zirbel, Jacob Zirbel, Hannah, Haley, Molly, Maggie Zirbel; great-grandchildren; Elena, Nate, Ellie, and one on the way in April; siblings, Ellen (Ray) Jennerjohn, Jim (Barb) Zirbel, Rick (Dianne) Zirbel, JoAnn (Dean) Baumann; brother and sisters-in-law, Gary (Judy) Guth, Gina Guth, and Judi Zirbel.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Ray and Jean Guth; brother, Bob Zirbel, infant brother, Michael, and sister and brother-in-law, Pat (Dick) Basten.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Saturday, January 18, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. followed by Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon Mike Dabeck officiating. Burial will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
