Donald Drewieske
Donald E. Drewieske, 100, Hobart, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020. He was born in Glenmore on Aug. 26, 1920, to the late Antone and Sophia (Bielenski) Drewieske. Don was a graduate of East De Pere High School. He was unable to enlist in the military due to a tumor in his leg so he moved to Hawaii as civilian contractor, welding water tanks for ships stationed in Pearl Harbor. After a surgery to have the tumor removed, Don was able to enter the U.S. Army. Unfortunately, Don was honorably discharged on Oct. 26, 1945, after breaking his neck during a training exercise.
On Sept. 15, 1945, Don married Emily Klish at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pine Grove. She preceded him in death on Sept 8, 2017. He ran his own body shop before taking a position as a postal clerk for the USPS for many years before retirement in 1975. Don was a proud member of the DAV Chapter 3 and enjoyed passing time fixing and doing home improvements or tending his garden with Emily. Faith was central to Don and Emily as a couple. Don was currently a member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and he would attend Mass weekly up until the pandemic in March.
Don will be missed by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Richard (Linda) Drewieske, and their two daughters, Laura Drewieske, Happy Valley, OR, and Christine Drewieske, Milwaukie, OR; John (Rita) Drewieske and their three daughters, Kate Drewieske (Jesse Brunette) and daughter, Mallory, Rohnert Park, CA; Dory (Eric) Heran, Green Bay; Yana Vandersteen, and sons, Braylon and Nicholai, Green Bay.
In addition to his wife and parents, Don was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Dolores Drewieske, Ray Drewieske, Florence Bonjean, Robert Drewieske, Norbert Drewieske and Sylvester Drewieske.
Visitation will be at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave., from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 1, 2020, with Father Brian Belongia officiating the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.Prokowall.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to benefit the Disabled American Veterans.

Grandpa had a great sense of humor however, Dory was never able to convince him that “girls are better than boys.”
