Michael L. MacDonald, 79, of Howard, died late Thursday evening, January 14, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital from complications of COVID 19.  He was born May 14, 1941, in Green Bay, the son of Edward and Marie (MacDonald) Poquette.  After attending Premontre High School, Mike served in the U.S. Army Reserves.  Following his work for several auto parts stores, Mike decided to start his own business in 1970, aptly named, MacDonald Auto Parts.  Other than marrying his wife, Bonnie (Gustafson), it was the best decision he ever made.  Mike ran the business until 1997, at which time his son Mike “Little Mac” took over.

Mike will be remembered for his huge passion for bowling.  He bowled a lot in his single years, but when he got married, it was a whole new ball game.  When he and Bonnie began their family, they became his priority in life. The MacDonalds spent every weekend up north at their trailer on Chute Pond.  In the summer they could be found fishing, tubing and swimming at the lake, and in the winter, ice fishing at the ice shack and snowmobiling the trails.

Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie, Howard; two daughters, Molli (Andy Baker) MacDonald, New Orleans, LA; Melissa Bollenbach, Middleton; and Michael (Tricia) MacDonald, Suamico; three grandsons, Mason Bollenbach (fiancée Sadie), Ethan Bollenbach, all of Middleton; and Jamison MacDonald, Suamico.  Then, comes the one and only granddaughter, the Queen, Iris.  Also surviving are two sisters, Sandi Gerondale and Pat Jansen, both of Green Bay,  brothers-in-law, Ron (Pat) Gustafson and Gary (Ilene) Gustafson; sisters-in-law, Lois Beno and Patsy O’Connor; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lawrence Poquette; three brothers-in-law, Larry O’Connor, Edward Beno and Ron Jansen; a niece, Carrie Francis Beno and a nephew, Steven O’Connor.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.   Funeral Services will immediately follow the visitation.  Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.  Memorials may be mailed to the funeral home.  Please write ATT: MacDonald Family on the outside of the envelope.
