Jean Lutsey, 60, Green Bay, allowed her body to rest as her spirit moved on to the next phase of her journey, Saturday, January 16, 2021, following an inspired battle with cancer.

Jean was born July 6, 1960, to Rita (Landwehr) and C.J. Haase in Green Bay, WI. She graduated from Green Bay Southwest High Sshool, and married K.C. Lutsey. Following K.C.’s early death in 1990, she shined at raising her sons while also completing nursing training at Bellin College of Nursing where she graduated with honors. She started a successful career as an RN at Bellin Hospital. Later she moved to a nursing position at Green Bay Correctional Institution where she became the Health Services Unit Director. On the trip of her lifetime to Hawaii, Jean married Karen Deshler on March 18, 2017, formalizing a lifetime relationship that started many years earlier. Jean was an inspirational leader and mentor, not only at work, but also with the teachings of Okinawan Shorei Kempo Karate. She spent years studying the traditional art, earned a second degree black belt, and brought together an amazing group of students to pass on her knowledge. Jean spent much of her life at the cottage on Newton Lake, swimming, fishing, and playing with her “toys”…ski boats, snowmobiles, and ATVs. Gliding across the smooth lake on a water ski was one of her favorite sensations, “It feels like you are flying!” she would say. When it came to her grandkids, Jean did it all; read, water skied, made crafts, played ball, baked, swam, hiked, organized family trips, drove them on 4-wheeler rides, and of course snuggled.

Jean is remembered by her wife Karen; mother Rita; sister Jan and her husband Ron Lealiou; sons Jon and his wife Pam Lutsey, (Dan) James and his wife Jen Lutsey; step-children Adam and his wife Sarah Deshler, Anthony and his wife Kayla Deshler, and Aaron Deshler; grandchildren Rae, Jo, Victoria, Van, Jared, Clayton, Max, Ray, Ari, Elora, Mara, Serenity, Adrianna, Savannah, and Aaron Jr. Jean is further remembered by sister-in-law Mary and her husband T Teofilo, brother-in-law Dick Knedle, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband K.C., father C.J., mother-in-law Ceil Lutsey, father-in-law Ken Lutsey, sisters-in-law Ann Knedle and Ellen Lutsey, and brother-in-law Dave Vergiels.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be coordinated later in the year.

In lieu of memorial gifts, use your hard earned money to take your children, parents, family, or friends out for ice cream, a favorite treat of Jean’s. She was known for keeping alive her father’s adage, “It is never too cold for ice cream; in the winter ice cream will warm you up!” And ice cream is always best shared with family and friends.
