Myles J. Gigot
Myles J. Gigot, 86, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at the Unity Hospice Jack and Engrid Meng Residence following complications from several chronic health conditions. The son of Clifford and Dorothy (Hendricks) Gigot, Myles was born at home on the family farm on October 29, 1934, in the Town of Gardner.
Myles was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, Class of 1954. Following high school, he spent a brief time at Montana State attending college on a football scholarship. Later he served his country in the U. S. Army on active duty from 1957 until 1959 and was honorably discharged in April of 1963. On September 16, 1961, he married Janet Jandrain at St. Amand Catholic Church in Walhain. Janet preceded him in death on November 14, 2020.
For thirty-two years Myles worked as a forklift operator at SuperValu Warehouse, retiring in September of 2000. Following retirement, Myles and Janet enjoyed spending their time golfing, traveling, and being with their family in Door County. As a season ticketholder, he was an avid and loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers his entire life and attended the famed Ice Bowl on December 31, 1967.
Myles will be greatly missed by his children, Therese (William) Korman, Philadelphia, PA, Perry (Janet) Gigot, Roscoe, IL, Pat Gigot, Marquette, MI, Paul (Lori) Gigot and Julie (Barry) Marthaler, all of De Pere; his grandchildren, Joshua and Jennifer (fiancé Alex Wheaton) Gigot, Jared and Ethan Gigot, Travis and Amber Gigot. Myles is also survived by a brother-in-law, Francis Jandrain; and a sister-in-law, Donna Jandrain.
In addition to Janet and his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Genevieve Jandrain; brothers-in-law, Robert Jandrain, Jr. and Arnold (Gloria) Jandrain; and a sister-in-law, Bennie Jandrain.
Friends may call at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, on Friday, February 19, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Mark VanderSteeg officiating. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required. A private family burial will take place at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff on the 9th floor of St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice, especially the Meng Residence staffand nurses who cared for our dad in his final days. Their compassionate care for him will always be remembered.
