Sylvester Kenneth “Sy” Micolichek

Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Nov 09, 1945

Died on Jan 07, 2022 and resided in Bellevue, Wisconsin

Sylvester Kenneth “Sy” Micolichek passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2022, at the age of 76.  Sy was born on November 9, 1945, in Green Bay to Phillip Micolichek and Anna (Swiontek) Micolichek.

Sy graduated from East De Pere High School in 1963.  He continued to work on the family farm and take care of his mother until her death in 2000.  Sy took great pride in his dairy herd and was proud of the genetic lineage he established. At the age of 60, he reluctantly sold his “girls” and retired from farming but continued raising chickens, as well as a few head of beef, to stay busy until the farm was sold. After selling his Holsteins, he began working for Select Sires as a Breeding Technician.  Being a great talker, he really enjoyed sharing stories with the farmers on his route and seeing the countryside. He always talked about wanting to buy another hobby farm, and he spent many hours just driving country roads searching for the perfect place. Sy found another career when he took a job working for the Brown County Parks System as a Park Ranger.  He enjoyed maintaining Lily Lake and Neshota Parks as well as providing security at the Brown County Fair.  He also worked a short time with the Brown County Highway Department before retiring in 2016.   Above all, Sy enjoyed a good meal with family and friends…paired with the perfect Old-fashioned.  Although he visited many Supper Clubs over the years, his favorite meal was frog legs at the Redwood Inn.

Sy was an active member of the Knights of Columbus council #4735 for 32 years, obtaining the Fourth Degree, and served two terms as Grand Knight as well as Deputy Grand Knight, Treasurer and Trustee.  He helped start the annual Knights of Columbus golf outing which raised money for local families in need. He was also a 56-Year Member of Catholic Financial #307 where he served as president and vice-president  for 10 years.  Sy belonged to Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Pine Grove, and Prince of Peace Parish in Bellevue.  He was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary every day. He made countless trips to the Shrine of the Our Lady of Good Help in Robinsonville where he prayed for family and friends. Sy will always be remembered for his generous and kind heart as well as his willingness to help friends and neighbors in their time of need.

He is survived by his sister, Phyllis (Fred) John of Green Bay; his brother, Thomas (Judy) Micolichek of Denmark; nephews, Mark (Joan) Micolichek of Bellevue, Brian (Kelly) Micolichek of Chippewa Falls; great-niece, Lauren; and great-nephews Ryan, Landon, and Riley.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother as well as his nephew, Todd Micolichek.

The family would like to thank Rick Gerlikowski, Al Jensen, Paul Schlies, and Gary Hermans for the support and friendship shown to Sy over the last several years, and also to Bellevue Senior Living for all the help given to Sy.
