Alice M. (Maresh) Kumbalek, 91, Green Bay resident, died Thursday evening, May 25, 2023, at Woodside Manor with family by her side. Alice was born April 26, 1932, in Antigo, WI to the late James W. and Rose (Zima) Maresh. She was a 1950 graduate of Washington High School in Two Rivers, WI. Alice married Leonard C. Kumbalek on August 4, 1951, at Saint Mark Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Leonard preceded her in death on December 1, 1981.

Alice’s devout faith in God provided the daily guidance by which she lived her life.  Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, devoted wife and friend, Alice lived a life of endless joy, strength, and cheerful giving to those whom she held dear. Known for her quick wit, hearty laugh, and continual sense of humor, all that knew Alice were touched and impacted by her love and indelible spirit. She enjoyed travel with friends and discovering new experiences. Alice enjoyed a lifetime of quilting, baking kolaches, making dumplings and other goods to share with those she loved. Greatest of all she loved time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren providing love, support, and endless impartation through daily demonstration of her wisdom, including: “remember the good times and forget the bad,” and a wish that she shared for all at a recent birthday celebration: “wishing everyone a peaceful and happy life and for community happiness.”

Alice is survived by seven children: Dennis (Kathy) Kumbalek, Green Bay; Dean (Deirdre Flynn) Kumbalek, De Pere; Dan (Ann Nachtwey) Kumbalek, Solon, IA; Dale (Dawn Patel) Kumbalek, Egg Harbor, WI; Doreen (Michael) Wallenfang, Green Bay; Diane (Scott) Le Sage, Green Bay; and Douglas (Vicky) Kumbalek, Fredericksburg, VA; ten grandchildren: Krista (Chris) Kumbalek; Nic (Maggie) Kumbalek; Kate (Triston) Kumbalek; Joseph Kumbalek; Alison (Brad) Kumbalek; Eli (Carolina) Kumbalek; Emma Kumbalek; Corey (Alyssa) Wallenfang; Kyle (Amanda) Wallenfang; and Sofia Kumbalek; five great grandchildren: Jack, Hazel and Henry Kumbalek; Madelyn Wallenfang; and Parker Wallenfang; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Marge Kumbalek, Manitowoc, WI and sister-in-law, Luz Kumbalek, Oconto Falls, WI; cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended families.

In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary; her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Theresa Kumbalek; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence (Virginia) Maresh and her twin, Allen (Viola) Maresh; brothers and sisters-in-law; Hilary (Ann) Kumbalek; Eunice (Tom) Fitzpatrick; Eileen Kumbalek; and Vernon Kumbalek.
