Bernard “Ben” Kilps Jr. 80, passed away on February 1, 2022. He was born on April 10, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Bernard and Mary Kilps.
Ben was a caring soul. In college he chose to study clinical psychology to devote his career to helping others. After finishing his graduate studies in psychotherapy, he was offered a position at Brown County mental health. He made many great friends in his 28-year career there.
Ben loved the outdoors. Camping, canoeing, fishing, gardening, cross country skiing, and bird watching. He never travelled without binoculars and a bird identification guide. He also loved sports whether playing or spectating. His greatest sport love/obsession of all was golf. He often said, with a wry smile, “Golf is not a matter of life or death. It is far more important.”
Ben is survived by his children; Spencer and Stacey Kilps; his brother Donald (Kathy) Kilps; his special friend Joline Weathers; and many excellent nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ben’s life will be held in Spring 2022, more details forthcoming. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
