Bernice Laurent

Bernice Laurent, 101, died peacefully on May 23, 2023. She was born to the late Frank and Carrie Lemens on September 15, 1921, in Green Bay.  Bernice proudly served her country with the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 during WWII. On April 19, 1947, she married Archie Laurent. Bernice and Archie went on to have 10 children. She was employed at St. Vincent Hospital as a housekeeping supervisor, retiring after 15 years. Bernice had very strong faith. She was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church and with the Altar Society. She was also an active member of the American Legion Post # 539.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn DeGroot, Joan (Ron) Delforge, David (Jean) Laurent, Frank Laurent, Paul (Margaret) Laurent, Amy (Mike) Pontow, Steven (Marsha) Laurent and James Laurent; her grandchildren, Jackie, Jenny, Jill, Faye, Sara, Eric, Becky, Michelle, Adam, Rhea, Brandon, Jessica, Ross, Rachel; 11 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Lemens.

In addition to her parents Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Archie, two daughters, Theresa Spejcher and Faye Laurent, grandchild, Daniel Bauer, brothers, Frank (Ruth) Lemens, Donald (Mary Lou) Lemens and Joseph Lemens. She was also preceded by her son-in-law Bob DeGroot.

Visitation for Bernice will be at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St., on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Juan Zarate officiating followed by Full Military Honors. Bernice will be buried at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
