Carol Marie Lewis, 91, Green Bay resident, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, January 28, 2022, with her family by her side after a decade long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  She was born in Mosling, WI on January 3, 1931, to the late Raymond and Gladys (Wincentsen) Ziegelbauer.  Carol was a graduate of Chilton H.S. and then attended technical college for administrative assistant training.  On May 22, 1954, she married Carl Lewis at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Green Bay.  Carol was active in the community of St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church where she established the giving tree program to provide underprivileged children presents at Christmas time.  She also was involved with bible study, teaching religious education and was a Eucharistic Minister.  For many years on Monday mornings at 4:00 a.m. she attended Eucharistic Adoration at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  Carol had a special devotion to the Mother Mary and the Eucharist.  She was an accomplished painter and enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family.  Carol was the beautician for many of her neighbors and friends.  Along with her husband, she enjoyed traveling the country and abroad.  She liked attending Packers games as well as working at them too.  Carol volunteered her time and talent in various ways including tutoring at Washington Junior High School and organizing at the local voting polls.  She was known for her faith, spunky sense of humor, cooking and sense of style.  Carol loved her family immensely and was their number one cheerleader.  She attended as many of her children and grandchildren’s events or activities as she could.  Carol will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Carl; children, Pam (Mike) Lewis-Nabbefeldt, Paul (Terri) Lewis, Pat (Christi) Lewis and Penny (Mike) Kwaterski; grandchildren, Kristin (Danson) Lewis-Drummer, Joshua (Molly) Lewis, Scott (Jessica Hanson) Lewis, Amber Lewis, Brett Lewis, Abbey (Alex) Baril, Sammie (Chris Gallegos) Kwaterski, Drew (Eva) Kwaterski and Stuart (Sara) Kwaterski; great grandsons, Walter Lewis and Henry Drummer and one great granddaughter expected in April; sister-in-law, Ruth Ziegelbauer; special relative and friend, Steve “Nock” Nachtwey; special friends and neighbors, Rita Tilot and Fran Kaubale; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Florence Lewis; brothers, Alvin, Roger and Garland Ziegelbauer; sister, Sharon Chalmers; and sister-in-law. Elizabeth “Betty” Lewis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday February 3, 2022, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 650 S. Irwin Ave., from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Funeral Mass 12:00 noon Thursday at the church with Rev. Finian Zaucha, OFM officiating.  Entombment will take place in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at Allouez Parkside Village for their care and compassion.  Also, a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and to Dr. Jason Hoppe for their kindness and care.
