Daniel C. “Big Dan” Bruskiewicz, 98, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, with his family at his side. He was the first of ten children to be born to the late Casmir and Pauline (Lepak) Bruskiewicz on September 11, 1923, in Town of Maple Grove.

Dan proudly served his county in the U.S Army during World War II. He served in the European Theater of the war and fought in the Battle of the Bulge where he received many medals of honor. On January 28, 1950, Dan married Lorraine T. Werchek at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2018. Dan worked for over thirty years for Wisconsin Public Service. Following retirement, he moved to his cottage in Pembine. He was known to be a “jack of all trades”. Dan loved to buy and fix old farm tractors. Family was very important to him. He loved seeing all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren which always put a smile on his face and having family get-togethers with plenty of good food. Dan was a simple but happy man. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to polka music, and tomatoes (and hopefully dad gets his tomato plants planted). Dan was also a member of the Winiecki VFW Post #9677.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Dolores (Jerry) Torp, De Pere, Carol (Gary) Gallup, L’anse, MI, Jane (Dan) Klug, Bellevue, Brian (Mary), Rhinelander; 11 grandchildren, Todd (Paula), Tina (Jesse), Lee (Christina), Andy (Shannon), Mark, Tammy (Jeremiah), Tim (Alicia), Matt (Ashley), Tera, Lance (Juan), Megan (Matt); 23 great grandchildren; a brother, Stanley (Dolores); two sisters, Theresa and Dorothy; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, sons, David, Ralph and Paul; a brother, Leo; granddaughter-in-law, Sara Bruskiewicz; his sisters, Mary, Agnes, Celia, Liz, and Sr. Lucy; and a brother, Leo.
