Daniel “Don” Walczyk, 94, Green Bay resident, died peacefully on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at a local care facility. He was born October 21, 1927, in Green Bay to the late Joseph and Stephanie (Huntowski) Walczyk. Don was a graduate of St. Mary of the Angels grade school and a proud 1945 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Following high school Don served in the US Army Reserves. He married the former Julanne Schiebel on August 16, 1952, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Don began his “Shoemaker” career at the age of 15 working at DeCleene’s Shoe Store on E. Mason St. In 1951 Don started his own shoe sales and repair business cleverly named “Don’s Shoe Store”. Don was a true Packer fan starting at a young age selling programs at City Stadium. He was hooked after that and eventually owned eight tickets attending all the games. He was very involved in his parish beginning when his children were young. He was a founding member of the SS Peter and Paul Booster Club, a member of the picnic crew, specializing in Booyah, an usher for many years and active in just about anything for the parish. Don was a true joker. He was always at the ready at every family function, firing off joke after joke, some extremely corny, but non the less, joke after joke. His years of hard work and staunch work ethic resulted in all his children and grandchildren leading productive and successful lives.

He is survived by his wife Julanne and four children: Kathy (Murray) Froelich, Green Bay; Dr. Tom Walczyk, Shawano; Dan Walczyk and Jim (Kathy) Walczyk, both of Green Bay; six grandchildren: Ryan (Shauna) Froelich; Murray (Greta) Froelich; Michelle (Kyle) Ferguson; Brandon Lim-Walczyk; Ben (Brittany) Walczyk and Katelin Walczyk and fiancé Matt Hiller; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa Beerntsen, Bellevue and Bernadine Simon, Green Bay; brother, Bob (Rosie) Walczyk Sr., Allouez; sister-in-law, Lucille Walczyk, Allouez and sister-in-law Alice (Don) Jadin, De Pere; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Walczyk; two sisters, Frances (Irwin) Sabo and Geraldine (Jerry) Le Mere; brother, Leonard Walczyk; brothers-in-law, Mel Beerntsen, John Simon and Paul Schiebel; his nephew, Mike Jadin.
