Dorothy Rentmeester

Dorothy L. Rentmeester, 84, Green Bay, passed away on Friday afternoon, September 15, 2023.  She was born on February 13, 1939, in the town of Eaton to the late Walter and Alvina (Nooyen) Greatens.  On January 12, 1957, she married James Rentmeester at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Eaton.  He preceded her in death on September 5, 1991.  Dorothy took classes at NWTC to be a food service worker.  She eventually became a food service supervisor in area nursing facilities.  Later, she took classes to be a nurse’s aide.  She worked in group homes and in home healthcare.  Dorothy opened her home to several people as an adult foster care.  She volunteered through church to organize and cook for the homeless at the local shelter once a month.  Dorothy loved animals, going for rides, going to the park and spending time with family, friends and fiancé, Grant Veckler.

She survived by her children, Dave (Deb) Rentmeester, Julie Truckey and Gail (Dean Massart) Rentmeester; grandchildren, James, Wesley and Corey Truckey; great grandchildren, Tiana, Audrey and Kylo; brother, Gary Greatens; sisters-in-law, Arlene Phillips and Sharon Witcpalek, her loving cat, Steve; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Marilyn Greatens, Milton Greatens and Sr. Marlene Greatens; son-in-law, Richard Truckey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Ella Rentmeester; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Myron (Audrey) Rentmeester, Melvin (Geraldine) Deprey, Delbert (Margaret) Rentmeester and Leo Witcpalek.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church with Rev. Adam Bradley officiating.  Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
