Dr. Joseph Paul Shafer Jr.

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Dr. Joseph Paul Shafer Jr., 93, of Pembine, WI, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022. He was born in Niagara WI, on August 18, 1929, to Joseph and Capitola (Bouche) Shafer. And upon graduation from high school, enlisted in the Air force where he proudly served his country in peacetime and war. He retired after 27 years of service. Joe followed in the footsteps of his father and studied Chiropractic, graduating with a doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1982. From 1984, Dr. Joe practiced for almost 30 years in both Wisconsin and Michigan and in 2013 retired for the last time.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Bertie his wife, two grandchildren, Abigail and Gregory Shafer and younger brother, Rodney.

Dr. Joe will be sorely missed by his children and their spouses Joseph III (Daniela), Debbie (Eric) Coloney, Donna (Ken) Nolan, David (Chris) Shafer, Gary (Craig) Shafer, and Greg (Becky) Shafer; 13 grand, 12 great grandchildren; sister, Susan (Dick) Potthier and sister-in-law, Shirley (Rodney) Shafer.

A Funeral Mass and Interment will be held at a future date yet to be announced. Respecting the wishes of Dr. Joe, in lieu of flowers, he wished that any memorials to him be made in the form of contributions to the Niagara Food Pantry, 1432 River St., Niagara, WI 54151 and/or Pembine-Dunbar Rescue Squad, P.O. box 220, Pembine WI 54156-0220.
