Gareth J. “Gary” Durocher, 81, Green Bay, went to be with the Lord after his third occurrence of cancer on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021.  He was born in Oconto Falls on Feb. 19, 1939, to the late Joseph and Angie (Smith) Durocher.  Gary was a graduate of Gillett High School class of ’57.  In 1962, Gary enlisted with the U.S. Army.  On June 2, 1962, he married Virginia Behnke at St. John’s Catholic Church in Gillett.  They enjoyed 58 years together.  Gary retired as a USDA meat inspector.  He was member of St. Bernard Parish for over 55 years and enjoyed his time with the Knights of Columbus.  He lived life to its fullest including racing stock cars, driving motorcycles and snowmobiles.  Gary was proud to have visited all 50 states and even added Asia to the list.  Fridays, he would drive to Gillett for coffee with friends at OJ’s.  Sundays, he could be found cheering on the Packers.  However, most important to Gary was his family.

Gary will be deeply missed by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Tina (Michael) Durocher-Murphy, Raleigh, NC; granddaughter, Alexandria Murphy; and many other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn (Durocher) Hansen; grandparents, Bill & Anne Smith and Ovila & Matilda Durocher.

Visitation will be at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Dr., Green Bay, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, with Rev. Mark VanderSteeg officiating the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Oconto Falls.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.Prokowall.com.

Gary’s family would like to thank the staffs of Heartland Home Healthcare Unit and Unity Hospice/Jack and Engrid Meng Residence for their compassion and exceptional care during this difficult time.
