George W. Owen, 71, Howard resident, died at a local hospital early Saturday morning, August 5, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born March 14, 1952, in Milwaukee to the late Albert and Betty (Obry) Owen. George attended Brookfield Central High School, graduating in 1970. Shortly after high school George began a lifetime career as a plumber, most notably working for Russ Veeser Plumbing and Bredael Plumbing, both in Luxemburg. George married Rosie, the love of his life, on February 21, 1997, in Brooksville, Florida, celebrating 26 years of marriage this year.

George was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and softball for many years. He loved to bow hunt and anxiously waited for the trips out west to hunt with family and friends. In later years George enjoyed hunting and spending time in the woods with his grandsons.

He played softball for many years on numerous teams and different leagues. George grew up bowling at Bluemound Bowl with family and friends. He loved to play or watch sports, particularly baseball and football. As a child, George caught 34 baseballs during one Brave’s season. He loved the Packers and the Brewers and also enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing.

He also loved to fish. George fished with so many wonderful people over the years, but his favorite partners were his wife, Rosie and son, Mason. Together they fished Muskies twice a year in Canada and weekly outings on the Bay of Green Bay. He has over 15 muskies to date that exceeded the 50” mark. He was a member of Muskies, Inc, in both the Green Bay chapter as well as the Headwaters chapter in Eagle River.

George is survived by his wife, Rosie and his children, Mason Van Essen Owen and daughter Missy Myhers; three grandchildren, Alex, Cory and Ryann Myhers; seven brothers and sisters: Charlotte (Doug) Aide; David (Joanne) Owen; Wayne Owen; Roger Owen; Debbie Owen (Bill Jackson); Timothy Owen and Cory (Kris) Owen; sister-in-law, Julie Foust; brother-in-law, Mark Berzill; Goddaughter, Courtney Owen and Godson, Christopher Aide; numerous nieces and nephews.
