James E. Piontek, 50, Green Bay resident, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at a local hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 19, 1971, in Green Bay to Jean (Buchanan) Piontek and the late Thomas Piontek. Jim attended Green Bay Preble High School graduating in 1989. Following high school Jim graduated from St. Norbert College. He was employed in the family business, Encompass Vending, formerly Smileys Mels Coin, and eventually became a partner in the business with his brother Andy. Jim married the former Tara Beasley on February 5, 2008.

Jim was a member of the Moose Lodge and a past director on the board for AMOA. He had a lust for travel to anywhere. He especially enjoyed Florida and Jamaica. Jim was a scuba diver, a snowmobiler and had a love for dogs. He created a new enthusiasm for throwing darts in the Green Bay area, starting numerous leagues, and running tournaments. Jim was a very social man and had a knack for making new friends everywhere he went.

He is survived by his wife, Tara and her two sons, Hunter Schermitzler, Green Bay and Brandon Schermitzler, Auburn, AL; his mother, Jean Piontek, Green Bay; brother, Andrew Piontek, Green Bay and his sister, Lisa (Brian) Vorpahl and their children, Kristin, Nick and Ella AZ; mother-in-law, Diane McFall, Green Bay and brother-in-law, Eric (Sarah) McFall, Suamico; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Per Jim’s wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service held. There will be a gathering of friends and relatives at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 3:00-7:00 pm Friday, June 17.
