Jeremiah Michael Nies, 44, passed away peacefully at his home in his sleep on Sunday, September 26, 2021.  Jeremiah was born June 18, 1977, in Green Bay, a son of June Marie (Preston) Nies and the late James M. Nies. Jeremiah graduated from SonShine Liberty Academy (Homeschool) De Pere, WI, the Class of 1994. Jeremiah loved Jesus and was loved by his family and friends. He worked for Krueger International, Elvin Safety, Brillion Iron Works, earned a CDL and did long hauls for Toma Transit, as a realtor with Coldwell Bankers, JCA Marketing, U & I Movers, and Freedom Vande Hei Trucking.  Jeremiah attended Destiny Church.  He loved nature and the outdoors.

At an early age, he enjoyed studying beekeeping. He demonstrated honeybee keeping at the Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay with the Beekeepers Organization. He amazed us by fearlessly persuading huge dark swarms of bees into a small hive box. In his younger years, he also tended and showed dairy goats at the Brown County Fair. He generously supplied our refrigerator and the neighboring Wagner Family with healthy goat milk for her rescued adopted babies. He loved his Haflinger mules “Bonnie and Clyde”, riding saddleback or driving his mule team giving rides to friends and family.  He raised steers; and received a Champion Best of Show Silver plate with his miracle dog “Arthur”, a Giant Airedale named after General Douglas McArthur.

Jere was skilled at automotive painting and body work.  During his real-estate days he purchased several homes, remodeling them like Better Homes and Gardens, into rental properties. Later, sadly and disheartened due to the truck accident/disability, he needed to sell all but one.

Jeremiah liked watching Walker Texas Ranger, and Don Knotts movies, “Where the Red Fern Grows”, listening to Johnny Cash music and, Terry McMillan Harmonica music, as well as Y100 Country Music and Andrew Womack CD’s. Jeremiah relished eating fresh cooked potatoes from the garden like his Grandpa Jim Preston.  He loved a thick beef steak, and a good cup of black coffee.  Even after his disability he surprised us playing remembered songs on the piano, guitar and his harmonica in tune, a gift that never left him. He loved giving flower bouquets to his mom and noisy toys to the nieces and nephews.

Jeremiah is survived by the JMN Nies family: June Marie Nies, his loving mother; five sibling sand their spouses, Joel Matthew (Marilyn) Nies, Joshua Mark (Elizabeth) Nies, Jacob Micah (Esther) Nies, Jonathan Malachi Nies, Jenesis Maranatha (Jacob) Linssen; his 11 nieces and nephews and many cousins; and his grandma, Rosella Nies.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Michael Nies (2019); his grandparents, Jim and Dorothy Preston; his grandfather, Joseph Nies; and his uncles Joey Preston and Larry Nies.

Family and friends please join us Saturday, October 9th to Celebrate his New Life with his Savior and the Angels at Destiny Church, 411 Destiny Drive, De Pere, WI.  Visitation hours start at 12:30 p.m. at the church and at 3:30 p.m. for the Funeral Service with Pastor Kirk Gerbers officiating.  Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family.
