Jerome Rabetski

Jerome Thomas “Rabbit” Rabetski, 85, died Sunday, May 12, 2024, following a lengthy battle with Inclusive Body Myositis. He was born December 11, 1938, in Green Bay to the late Harold and Helen (Blohowiak) Rabetski.

Jerome was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, Class of 1957. He later served his country in the U.S Marine Corps for six years between active duty and in the reserves. On May 23, 1959, Jerome married Shirley Cramer at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. After working at several jobs, Jerome started with the Green Bay Fire Department in 1963. This was truly his dream job, which he loved. Over the years, and moving up in the ranks, he retired as Assistant Fire Chief in 1994. Throughout his lifetime, Jerome volunteered with many charities including Green Bay’s first Freedom House, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and served on the board of directors of Schneider Community Credit Union from 1993-2002. His favorite pastime was to cook Booyah for the PLAV (Polish Legion of American Veterans) Post #186, where he served as Post Commander and served duties at other state levels, and the River Road Riders Snowmobile Club.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Dorrie (Dave) Schrimpf, Gordon (GuilanSu) Rabetski, Julie (Paul) Barrette, Michael (Tabetha) Rabetski, and his adopted daughter, Julie (Reid) Hansen; his seven grandchildren, Gregory (Elizabeth) Nienow, Brandon Barrette, Jacque (Douglas Dow) Nienow, Alyssa Barrette, Rylee Rabetski, Kolt Griffin, and Zhaofeng Wen; five great-grandchildren, Hailey Dow, Kaycen Dow, Landyn Dow, Everett Nienow, and Elsie Nienow; two sisters, Bernadette Evrard and Mary Whiting; a sister-in-law, Kaye Cramer;  and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Theodore and Renata Cramer; brothers-in-law, Brent Whiting, Roger Evrard, Henry Cramer, and Terrance Cramer.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street, on Saturday, May 18th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Deacon Bill Burkel officiating.  Military Honors to follow.
