John Drewieske

John Drewieske, 69, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 15, 2022, after a short bout with pancreatic cancer.  He was born August 12, 1952, to Donald and Emily (Klish) Drewieske.  After graduating Green Bay Preble High School, John graduated from NWTC and began a career as an LPN.  He worked for over 30 years with the Brown County Mental Health Center on Unit 7.  After the St. Anthony Street building was torn down, he worked part-time with Brown County Community Treatment Center out-patient services before retiring.

On October 16, 1976, he married Rita M. Gauthier in De Pere.  The couple was blessed with three daughters.  John was a talented woodworker who created many treasured pieces for  family and friends.  He enjoyed Star Trek and studying science.  John was a lover of dogs and found solace in working in his flower garden.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kate Drewieske and Jesse Brunette of Rohnert Park, CA; Dory and Eric Heran, Allouez, Tatyana Vandersteen, Green Bay; three grandchildren, Braylon Vandersteen, Nickolai Vandersteen and Mallory Brunette; a “Pseudo-Son”, Seth Kutzleb, Minneapolis, MN; special extended family, Jace Vandersteen (Claudia Baxter) and Viktor; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Linda Drewieske, Happy Valley, OR; sisters-in-law, Ruth Utschig, Naperville, IL; Mary Gauthier, Oshkosh; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, Walter and Dorothy Gauthier; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan and Russ Matzke, Gene Gauthier, LeRoy Utschig; and special relatives, Mary Klish, Tony Klish and Aggie Smits.

Private services were held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Proko-Wall Funeral Home assisted the family.  Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, De Pere.  To send online condolences visit prokowall.com.  Memorials may be directed to Green Bay Animal Rescue.
