John P. Mason, 68, peacefully entered eternal life on February 4, 2022, with his beloved family surrounding him in his home, after a long courageous battle with heart disease. John was born on January 23, 1954, in Green Bay, WI, to the late Kenneth and Elizabeth “Betty” (Schaut) Mason. John was raised on the East side of Green Bay and attended Green Bay East High. At the age of 17, John enlisted in the Army. He was a proud veteran. John met Donna Larscheid and they were married in Hawaii in April of 1984. Together they proudly raised three children Kyle, Mattie, and Cole.

John worked for Wisconsin Public Service for many years. He was a hardworking, dedicated employee and was well-liked by all his coworkers. John retired at an early age and spent his retirement caring for his grandchildren, who he lived for.

John battled heart disease for 31 years of his life, suffering a heart attack at the young age of 37. Since 1991, John underwent several surgeries, procedures, and tests, and his bravery and strength always carried him through.

He was a family man, simply the best there ever was. To know John, was to love him. He was the laughter in every room, the calm and ease to any sadness or hurt, the strength everyone aspires to possess, and everyone’s best friend. John was the greatest companion and husband, the world’s best Dad, and the most special Papa. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything and everything. John had many talents and hobbies: working on his classic car and truck, wood carving, taxidermy, painting, and fishing. He had a knack for everything but was the most modest person when it came to his work. John dedicated his life to his children and never missed a game, concert, or performance. He led a simple and very fulfilled life.

He is survived and will be forever missed and loved by his wife: Donna Mason; his children: Kyle (Serenity) Mason, Mattie (Brandon) Blake, and Cole Mason (Kerry Bolduc); his five grand-children: Charlie, John, Everly, Ellie and Bennett; his sister: Mary (Dan) Christens; sisters-in-law: Lynn (Larry) Kane, Susan (Red) VanRite, Bonnie (Tom Maes) Mason, Debbie (Craig) Christensen, Lori Stein, Mary (Mark) Mandich; brothers-in-law: Rick (Denise) Larscheid, Bill (Lisa) Larscheid, and Steve Larscheid. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

John was welcomed into Heaven by his mother: Betty, father: Kenny, brother: Jimmy, father-in-law: Don, mother-in-law: Evelyn, sister-in-law: Sharon (Larry) Maes, and brother-in-law: Bob Stein.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held at Proko Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E Mason St., on Saturday, February 12, from 10:00 am until the time of Memorial Service at 2:00 pm with Ann Froelich officiating. Full Military Honors will follow. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
