Judy Melotte

Judith A. “Jutes” Melotte, 84, Denmark resident, died on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at a local care facility following a lengthy illness with her family by her side. She was born April 27, 1938, in the Town of Ahnapee to the late Henry and Laura (DeQuaine) DeBouche.

Judy attended SS Peter and Paul Grade School and graduated from East High School in 1956. She married Roger Melotte on October 4, 1958, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Judy and Rog raised their family on the north shore of the Bay until they moved to Denmark in 1967. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1996.

Judy worked at numerous occupations throughout her life. When all her children were in school, Judy attended classes at Lakeshore Technical College receiving her associate degree in data processing. She finished her career at Stodola Accounting.

Judy was always focused on her family. She was so very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Judy was a true sports enthusiast, especially when her family was involved. She was their number one fan. She supported her grandchildren and great grandchildren attending as many games and events as possible.

Judy was very proud of her home and always welcomed everyone, family and friends alike. The Melotte home was warm and inviting. Judy’s hospitality was endless, often entertaining grandchildren, their friends, neighbors, ball players and friends…complete with delicious food and the family pool.

She will always be remembered as a nurturing soul, especially to her siblings and their spouses. She loved to visit them in Rhinelander, Kansas City, Crivitz and Florida. Judy also loved to take day trips to Door County. She loved to shop, admire flowers and landscaping in Door County. Judy had a love for jewelry and always made a fashion statement with jewelry. She never turned down the offer to go out for dinner, enjoy a Manhattan and a few pints as well. She enjoyed being around people and will always be remembered for her bigger than life smile.

She is survived by five children: Jeffrey Melotte, Green Bay; Denise Melotte (Lee Kornaus), New Franken; Mark Melotte, Denmark; Dawn (Todd) Larsen, Oconto Falls and Joy (Jeff) Bielinski, Green Bay; six grandchildren: Derick (Chelsea) Melotte; Justine (Damian) Simons; Chad (Stacie) Kaminski; Brynn (Maddie) Larsen; McKenna (Trent) Larsen and Lawton Bielinski; seven great grandchildren: Payton, Rylan, Lakyn, Jace, Rowan, Sienna and Alayna; Jace’s father, Mark (Brianna) Joski; Lee’s daughters, Kelsey Kornaus and Tiffany (Carlos) Perez Ferrando and family; one brother, Denny (Pat) DeBouche, Crivitz; two sisters, Kathy (Arlen) Wilson, Kansas City, MO and Teri (Greg) Meyer, Rhinelander; Brother-in-law, Jim Melotte, Green Bay and sister-in-law, June Langdon, Green Bay; her step-siblings: Rose Ebben; Marilyn Kibilowski; Betty (Lincoln) Pickard and Larry (Shelly) Jadin; countless nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alyssa (Kaminski) Joski; grandson, Landon Bielinski; great granddaughter, Braelyn Kaminski; sister-in-law, Patricia Melotte; in-laws, Ray and Ceil Melotte; stepfather, Lawrence Jadin and two step-brothers-in-law, Wally Kibilowski and Henry Ebben.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, March 21. Parish wake service 7:00 pm Tuesday. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Rd., from 9:00-10:45 am. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Wednesday at the church with Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating.  Mom, thank you for everything, your unconditional love, always putting us first, and your wisdom. Now it is time for you to be still, follow your heart and be at peace.
