Kathleen A. “Katie” Berceau, 86, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at her home with family on Thursday, June 17, 2021, after a long-term struggle with Alzheimer’s.  She was born in Green Bay to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Van Boxel) Bisick on Dec. 2, 1934.  Katie’s strong faith and dedication to prayer guided her through her difficult affliction.  Even during her childhood she would walk with family to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, a pilgrimage she continued to make throughout her life.

Katie graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1952, where she was a majorette for the marching band.  A love story in the making, Katie met Patrick Berceau while attending a CYO dance at Saints Peter and Paul.  They were engaged shortly before Pat enlisted with the Air Force.  After his return they married on April 19, 1958, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church.  They shared over 62 years together before Pat preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2020.

Katie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Katie’s family was her passion.  She volunteered at St. Mary of the Angels when her children and grandchildren attended the school.  She could be found on the playground, coordinating dances, assisting with bake sales or any other functions she could take on to be closer to them.  Her labor of love was to be at home caring for her family and it wasn’t until her children were grown that she worked for the Sure Way stores.  Her joy for life and indominable spirit kept her going, particularly during the course of her disease.

“We take comfort knowing that Mom and Dad are together again.”

Katie will be deeply missed by her 2 children, Joe (Lisa) Berceau and Cindy (Scott) Watzka; 5 grandchildren, CJ (Emily) and Jared Berceau, and Evan, Noal and Garett Watzka; and 2 great grandchildren, Odessa and Keira Berceau.

In addition to her husband and parents, Katie is preceded in death by Evelyn (Donald) Larscheid, Bernice (Ervin) Adrians, Janet (Harold) Carpiaux, Mildred (Bernard) Nuthals and Harold (Jean) Bisick.

Visitation will be at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, with a Parish Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 650 S. Irwin Ave., from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, with Rev. Finian Zuacha OFM officiating the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.Prokowall.com.

Katie’s family would like to thank the staffs of Allouez Parkside Village and Unity Hospice for their care and support.
