Lois (Stiles) Stary, 88, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022. Lois was born on May 24, 1934, to Curtis and Eleanor (Stascak) Stiles in Green Bay. Lois graduated from Green Bay East High School. Shortly after graduation she met the love of her life, Rodney Stary. Rod and Lois were married on September 20, 1952. Four children later and their family was complete.

Lois worked at what was known at the time as “the telephone company”. After taking time off to have four children in five years, Lois worked at Dehn’s Ice Cream Shop at Three Corners. Her kids really liked Dehn’s ice cream. Lois later waitressed at Oneida Golf and Riding where she frequently served Coach Vince Lombardi and many Packer players from the Glory Years. Lois’s career began when she started at Sears in Green Bay as a sales person in women’s clothing department. She finished her career at Sears as manager of the service department, overseeing all appliance parts, service/repairs and service technicians in northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. She was a pioneer and role model leading a team of 12 men in a time that seldom had women in those leadership roles.

To get away from the cold winters, Lois and Rod moved to Las Vegas after retirement, where they had the time of their lives for 14 years. They moved back to Green Bay in 2015 to be closer to family.

Music was always a big part of Lois’s life. She loved to dance. Since Rod didn’t, Lois would dance at weddings and parties with anyone she saw tapping their feet. She taught herself to play the organ, she was pretty good at it. Lois joined the church choir in every city they lived.

Lois and Rod had Packer tickets when Lambeau Field opened. They went to almost every game for the next 40+ years. Lois and Rod were really at the Ice Bowl too. They even attended Super Bowl XXXI in New Orleans.

Lois and Rod went camping for most of their lives, starting in a tent with the kids and ended with a permanent site at Arbor Vitae. Other hobbies were avid reading and bowling where she was a proud member of the 600 Club.

Lois is survived by her children, Karen (Jeff) Smits, Susan Skogg, Steve (Lori) Stary and Bryan (Lucy) Stary; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean McArdle; and brother-in-law, Dale (Donna) Stary of Las Vegas.

She is preceded in death by Rodney, her husband of 69 years; infant great-grandchild, Hamilton Nick; her parents; parents-in-law Hannah and Joseph Stary; brothers, Curtis Stiles and Neil Stiles; in-laws Steven McArdle, Quentin (Laura) Stary and Ronald (Fern) Stary.
