Louis E. Brandt

Louis E. “Lou” Brandt, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 4, 2021, at his home.  He was born November 11, 1936, in the Town of Krok to Harry and Amanda (Genz) Brandt.  He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1955.  From childhood into adulthood, Lou was passionate about baseball.  After graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Army. 

On October 27, 1962, Lou married Lucile Matzdorf.  The couple raised their three children in Chilton where Louis was the publisher of the Chilton Times Newspaper.  He was a Golden Member of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and served on its Board of Directors.  He was also a member of the Chilton Rotary Club and the Chilton Athletic Club, an instrumental leader in developing the Nennig Park Baseball Field. Lucile preceded him in death on April 20, 1999. 

Lou married Donna (Schuch) Wacek on August 23, 2002, a former classmate from Kewaunee County.  The two made their home in Green Bay and attended St. Matthew Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Wacek-Brandt; three children, Mark (Julie) Brandt, Judy (Jerry) Kurscheidt and Wayne (Ann) Brandt; four grandchildren, Zachary Dewitt, Jerad Wagner, Elizabeth Brandt and Alex Brandt; a step-son, Jeffrey (Cassandra) Wacek; step-daughter, Kim Marie Wacek; step-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Francis Raddatz; and Donna’s twin brother, Dean (Carol) Schuch.

In addition to Lucile and his parents, Lou was preceded in death by a brother, Harold (Rosalie) Brandt and two sisters, Joan Raddatz and Violet (William) Smith.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 9th at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthew St. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at the church with Rev.
