Lucille Nachtwey

Lucille Marie (Monfils) Nachtwey, 96, died Sunday, September 17, 2023, after a long struggle with lung and heart disease.  She was born March 11, 1927, in Kohlberg in the Township of Brussels to Marshall and Emma (DuBois) Monfils.  On August 24, 1968, she married Aloysius “Al” Nachtwey at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown.  The two loved spending time on the dance floor.  Lucille was a longtime member of St. Philip Parish and the Altar Rosary Society.  Al preceded her in death in December of 2002. In her later years, she enjoyed taking trips with her lady friends and rides to Door County.  Holidays and birthday celebrations with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were special times.

Survivors include two children, Gary (Diane Stone) Johnson of Sun Prairie and Jeanne (Dick) Diedrich of Green Bay; her son-in-law, Gary Laurent; four grandchildren, Shawn (Rick) LaCombe, Melissa (Corey) Olmsted, Gary Johnson Jr., Sara VanKlooster; and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Laurent; sisters, Dorothy Alexander, Isabel Johnson and Deloris Spiegle; brothers, Harry, Willis, Bernard and Norson Monfils; many brothers-n-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:20 am. Friday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church. The family issues a special thank you to Dr. Gabriel Mihailescu for his care over the years, and to Father Larry Canavera, Father Bill Hoffman, Sister Helen Keyzer, and all the family and very special friends who prayed for and tended to Lucille.  Thank you also to God for her wonderful life.
