Marcella Zabel

Marcella M. Zabel, 102, Green Bay, passed away on Thursday morning, August 12, 2021.  She was born on February 3, 1919, in Manitowoc to the late Otis and Inga (Hansen) Evenson.  Marcella was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. On May 17, 1941, she married Howard Zabel at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.  He preceded her in death on December 7, 1979.  She worked at Bell Telephone Company for 30 years until her retirement.  She was an active member at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Green Bay and sang in the choir.  Marcella was a member of the Sons of Norway.  She enjoyed traveling and took many trips to destinations around the world.  Marcella especially liked playing bridge.  She also liked to go camping, boating and visiting Door County.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by her children, Jim Zabel, Judy (Nick) Lom, Mary (Bruce) Muller and Mark (Connie) Zabel; grandchildren, Charles “Marty” (Mary) Zabel, Andy (Jenny) Zabel, Eric (Samantha) Lom, Tim (Steve Noll) Lom, Cyndi (Paul) Cantwell, Kathryn Krafft, Matthew (Melissa) Zabel, Rikka (Canyon Schultz) Zabel and Megan (Wade Ashley) Zabel; step-grandchild, Cindy (Scott) Etherton; many great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; former grandson-in-law, Ryan Krafft; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jon Lom; great granddaughter, Laura Krafft; brother and sister-in-law, George (June) Evenson; brother-in-law, Robert Zabel.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 120 S. Henry St., from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor David Hatch officiating.   Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.  Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
