Mary A. Tomcheck

Mary A. Tomcheck, 89, Green Bay resident, died early Thursday morning, May 12, 2022, at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence. She was born on November 22, 1932, in Green Bay to the late John and Philomene (Kohlbeck) Salmon. Mary was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy. She married Kenneth Tomcheck on September 20, 1958, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2005.

Mary was employed by St. Vincent Hospital starting her career in the Emergency Physicians Department and retiring as the Patient Accounts Supervisor. She was a devout catholic and lived her life according to her faith. Mary was a lifelong, active member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish. She was involved in the parish activities and taught CCD. Mary always enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, swinging a golf club, baking and playing piano . She cherished the time spent babysitting the grandchildren and made many fond memories teaching her children how to skate, ride a bike and giving some life lessons. She was a regular blood donor with the Red Cross, often being called in to help at certain times of the year. Mary’s house was always open to family and friends, and she truly enjoyed all the company and visits.

She is survived by her children; Jay (Barbara) Tomcheck; Jennifer VandenPlas and Jeffrey (Debra) Tomcheck: grandchildren; Lauren Tomcheck, Kristin Tomcheck, Rebecca (Mike) Mogilka, Andrea (Chris) Jahn, Nicole VandenPlas, and Richard VandenPlas, Ryan (Melanie) Tomcheck, and Meghan Tomcheck and her fiance’ Bobby Guns; great grandchildren; Wyatt, Quinn, Isabella, Kylah, Presley, and Stella; her siblings, Theresa McCarville and Rita (Jim) Oudenhoven; many wonderful nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, James; siblings: Leo (Marian) Salmon; Edward (Marcella) Salmon; George (Mary) Salmon; Marge (Carl) Slaby; Geraldine (Donald) Garot; James Salmon; Audrey (Kenneth) Repitz; Robert Salmon; Tom Salmon; and Richard (Nancy) Salmon; in-laws, Xavier and Stella Tomcheck; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Emerdine (Donald) Delfosse; Charles (Monie) Tomcheck; “Red” Xavier Tomcheck Jr. and Dawn Tomcheck.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Tuesday, May 17, from 4:00-8:00 pm. Parish wake service 7:00 pm Tuesday. Visitation will continue at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 650 S. Irwin Ave. on Wednesday from 9:30-10:45 am. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Wednesday at the church with Fr.
