Mary Ann (Lathauer) Cieslewicz, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, with her family by her side.  Mary Ann was born on March 14, 1934, in the Town of Eaton, Wisconsin to Henry and Lillian (Laurent) Lathauer.  On June 7, 1958, she married Joseph Cieslewicz at Holy Martyrs Church.  She enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage before Joey preceded her in death on February 9, 2016.

Mary Ann worked at Weiman’s Dime store for many years before becoming a full-time homemaker, wife and mom.  Once her children were older, she worked for Shopko for many years as a cashier and then in the Hallmark card aisle.  She loved sorting and arranging the cards. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, quilting, traveling, walking, playing solitaire, playing penny slots and cooking for family.  She gave away many beautiful knitted and crocheted blankets as gifts. She loved her children and grandchildren immensely and was extremely proud of each of them.  She is an active member of St. Joseph Parish and was a frequent visitor with Joey to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. She continued those visits to the Chapel after his passing where she found comfort in prayer.

She is survived by two children, Lisa Walling, Suamico, WI, and Paul (Carlene) Cieslewicz, Cape Girardeau, MO; three grandchildren; Jacob, Emily and Kelsie; three brothers-in-law, Cyril Cieslewicz, Henry (Mary) Cieslewicz and Jim Sigmund; three sisters-in-law, Gertie (Russ) Lotto, Susie Olejniczak, and Merece Lathauer; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by two infant children: Paul Joseph and Cinthia; brother: Joe Lathauer; sisters, Esther (Sylvie) Cieslewicz and Carol Lathauer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Alex (Helen) Cieslewicz, Chet (Irene) (Betty) Cieslewicz, Jerry (Joan) Cieslewicz, Margie Sigmund, Lenny (Geneva) Cieslewicz, Joanie Cieslewicz and Fran Oleniczak; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Max and Rose (Piszczek) Cieslewicz.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Ninth St., from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. We would like to thank Bob & Dee Holloway who watched over Mom and her house after Dad’s passing and took care of her lawn and snow removal needs. We thank Rita Jauquet who was her constant bingo buddy and Irene Summers who called her multiple times a day to check in on her and say “hi”.  We also appreciate Emerald Bay Assisted Living and the St Vincent Hospital 8th floor nurses for their caring and compassion towards Mom these last few months and days.
