Mary K. (Stimpson) Nelson, 70, Green Bay, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Green Bay on Dec. 17, 1949, to the late Charles and Marie “Joyce” (DeGrand) Stimpson. Mary was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, class of ’68. After graduation Mary worked at Pauly’s Cheese for seven years. On Sept. 19, 1975, she married Jerry Nelson and moved to Iron River, MI. Together they raised two sons and she took on a position at West Iron County Schools. After Jerry passed in 2008, Mary moved back to Green Bay and enjoyed reconnecting with old friends. Mary had a passion for helping others and took care of her mother daily. Music played an important role throughout her life. She would always listen to the radio while she was working and enjoyed going to concerts, including several this past year. Mary was an avid Packers fan and loved doing whatever she could for her grandchildren.
Mary will be deeply missed by her sons, Eric and Jeff Nelson; grandchildren, Chris, Julian, Clarissa, Samantha, Connor, Caiden, Kaylee and Kaitlyn; siblings, Mitch Stimpson, Mark (Kathy) Stimpson, Paul Stimpson, Laurie Stimpson and Scott (Michelle) Stimpson; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, with Sister Helen Keyzer officiating the Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at www.Prokowall.com.
