Michael “Mike” Gajeski

Michael J. Gajeski, 70, Allouez resident, died Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 15, 1952, in Green Bay to the late John and Elaine (Thompson) Gajeski. Mike attended Green Bay East High School graduating in 1970. Following high school Mike served in the US Air Force from 1971 until his discharge as Sergeant in 1975. He continued his education at NWTC obtaining his Associates Degree in Mechanical Design.

Mike married the former Elizabeth “Beth” DeGroot on July 22, 1972, at St. Willebrord Catholic Church and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past July.

He was employed as an industrial machine designer at firms in the Green Bay area. Mike enjoyed a partnership with longtime friend, Dave Nier, practicing his carpentry skills on remodeling projects in his spare time.

Mike was an outdoorsman enjoying both gun and bow hunting for deer, elk and antelope. Being outdoors with family and friends, especially up north, were some of his favorite times. He cherished his family and looked forward to playing with his grandkids who made his life complete. Mike was a man of faith and a devout member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish and a regular volunteer for parish events. He was honored to be a Godfather to many members of his family. Mike continued to honor his country by becoming a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #8337.

Mike is survived by his wife Beth and their two children, Scott (Emily) Gajeski, Morrison, CO and Matthew (Amanda) Gajeski, Oregon, WI; four grandchildren: Katherine and Samuel Gajeski and Caleb and Baby Girl Gajeski; his siblings: Tom (Joan Steeno) Gajeski; Wendy (Randy Bergevin) Gajeski; Cindy Schomburg; Rick Gajeski; Russel (Terri) Gajeski and Betsy (Mike) Rickard; his in-laws: Joe (Dwyn) DeGroot; Sue (Ernie) Nervegna; Pulie (Bill Burrows) Leonhardt and Mary DeGroot; many nieces and nephews as well as his special friend, Marla.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine Rose; sister, Judy Gajeski; brother, David Gajeski; his in-laws, Al and Dorothy DeGroot and brother-in-law, Dick Leonhardt.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Friday, October 28, from 4:00-8:00 pm. Parish wake service 7:00 pm Friday. Visitation will continue Saturday at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, 650 S. Irwin Ave. from 9:30-10:45 am. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Saturday at the church with Fr. Finian Zaucha O.F.M. officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to the Gajeski family at www.prokowall.com.
