George H. Schroeder, 74, Allouez resident, passed away on Wednesday evening, August 7, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 16, 1945 in Madison to the late Norman and Florence (Pond) Schroeder. George was a graduate of Madison East High School. He served his country with the United States Navy from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1967. George then attended the Madison Business School obtaining a degree in accounting. On October 17, 1987, he married Mary Helfert at First Congregational Church in Sheboygan. He worked as an accountant for many years until his retirement. George liked cooking for his family especially pizza, lasagna and chocolate chip cookies. He was a talented woodworker making many items for family and friends. George loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed sports especially watching the Packers and reading science fiction novels.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; son, Ben (Jessie) Schroeder; daughters, Chris (Keith) Conway, Nicole Scharenbroch and RachelOriana; grandchildren, Alex and Alyssa Conway; Rylee, Ellee, Rocklyn Scharenbroch; brother, Jack (Nancy) Schroeder; sister, Norma Hughes; sisters-in-law, Rita (Bob) Strathmann and Karen Helfert; brother-in-law, Charles (Nancy) Helfert; his cat, Pita; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Schroeder; brother, Paul Schroeder; brothers-in-law, Ben Hughes and Norbert Helfert, Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norbert, Sr. and Eleanor Helfert.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
