George Hockers

George A. Hockers, 76, Phelps, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.  George was born on Feb. 1, 1945, in De Pere to the late Francis and Marion (Cavil) Hockers and graduated from De Pere High Class of ’63.  George was drafted into the U.S. Army after graduation and was stationed in Germany.  On April 20, 1968, he married Carol Dombeck and worked as a cabinet maker.  Later, he started his plumbing career with Joe VandeWalle Plumbing.  He retired in 2001 as a Master Plumber, after owning George Hockers Plumbing for 28 years.  George loved spending time with his grandchildren and volunteering with various clubs.  He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, crafting, gardening, playing cribbage and canning. 

George will be deeply missed by his wife, Carol; children, Jesse (Terry) Hockers, Theresa Hockers-Willems (Jason Willems), Jamie (Dan) Nowak; 7 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jake Hockers, Garrison and Marshall Willems, Griffin, Dayne and Autumn Nowak; siblings, Betty (Gene) Psenicka, Ruth Hockers and Joyce (Bob) Champeau; brother-in-law, Richard (Diane) Dombeck; and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Phelps, WI, 4494 Town Hall Rd., from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021, with Rev. Ron Serrao officiating the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.Prokowall.com.
