Richard P. Douglas passed away peacefully on October 20, 2021, at the age of 86, surrounded by his family.  The son of Margaret and Benjamin Douglas, Richard was born on May 15, 1935, in Bark River, Michigan.  He graduated from Bark River-Harris High School in 1953 and went on to graduate from Marquette University in 1957 with a major in Finance/Accounting.  He served two years with the Third Infantry Division of the U.S. Army stationed in Bamberg, Germany from 1957 to 1959.

He married the love of his life, Marilyn R. Miller, on October 10, 1959, and they spent the next 60 years together, supporting each other every step of the way.

Richard enjoyed a long career in management in the health care industry, beginning in Milwaukee at Blue Cross of Wisconsin.  In 1966 his family moved to Green Bay where he became the Assistant Administrator and Chief Financial Officer of Bellin Memorial Hospital until 1990.

Richard served on the Board of the Visiting Nurses Association and on the Finance Committee of St. Bernard Catholic Church for many years, and held the position of Treasurer of the parish for two years.

In addition to his family, golf was his passion.  Some of his accomplishments include shooting a Hole-In-One three times and a Double Eagle once, playing the St. Andrews course in Scotland, and shooting below his age on 18 holes just five months ago!

Richard and Marilyn were wonderful parents to four daughters:  Leslie (John) Lange, Wales, WI;  Susan (Jeff) Westcott, Mequon, WI;  Sharon (Don) Erickson, Camarillo, CA;  and Joan Garvens, Stone Bank, WI.  They were blessed with nine grandchildren:  Jenna and Sierra Lange;  Nicole (Mike) Lynch and Amanda Westcott;  Tyler and Carter Erickson;  Jake, Josh and Luke Garvens;  and one great-grandson, Benton Lynch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marilyn and his two brothers, James and Father Marian Douglas.

Visitation will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, from 10:00 to 11:20 a.m. Tuesday.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev.
