Richard “Rich” Earl Potter, 63, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2021, at Aurora Baycare Hospital.

Richard was born April 24, 1958, in Covina, California to the late John and Jacqueline Potter. He was one of six children, one preceded him in death. Richard attended school in the Escanaba, Michigan area. He served in the U.S. Navy in his early 20’s.

Richard is survived by his two daughters and six grandchildren: Ashley (Sean) Kennedy and their children Bryanna, Erika, and Riley Kennedy; Tessiea Doering and her children Desiree, Dale Jr., and Dillon Doering. Richard had a very special relationship with his nieces Christina and Jessica Potter. Family was the most important part of his life.

Richard loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. He was a great father and friend to his daughter Ashley.  They would talk on the phone for hours when they couldn’t see each other. His three granddaughters Bryanna, Erika and Riley called him their “Texas” Grandpa even though he lived in Wisconsin. He had a favorite cat who he called Jake or “Fat Cat”.

Rich loved to travel, and he had a passion for fishing or anything outdoors during his lifetime. He had seen the country from ocean to ocean. While he was a gruff man, once he was in your corner, he was a friend for life. Rich lived at the Veterans’ Manor in Green Bay and had made many great friends there. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Burial and Military Honors will be held at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery in Fort Sheridan, Illinois at a later date.
