Rita M. Duben, 97, died Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at her home. She was born October 10, 1925, in Green Bay to the late Louis and Loraine (Tennis) De Groot.
Rita was a graduate of Green Bay West High School, Class of 1943. Immediately following graduation, she began work as a secretary in Washington D.C. for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After six months she returned to Green Bay where she continued to work as a secretary for the next 46 years until her retirement in 1989. On February 26, 1949, Rita married Donald R. Davis. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1998. On January 9, 2004, she married Daniel Duben at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Rita loved to play cards, do puzzles, sing, and have a good time with her many friends.
Rita is survived by her husband, Dan; her stepchildren, Jene “Eddie” (Patricia) Duben and Christine (David) Naniot; her four step-grandchildren, Jason Naniot, Jeffrey Van Dreel, Yvonne Van Dreel, and Christie Naniot; her seven step-great-grandchildren; special nieces, Patty Gross and Barbara Van Severen; her sisters, Ann Lee Rioux and Mary Lou (Al) Hendricks.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard, Howard, and Robert; a sister, Jean Scheschi; stepmother, Marie DeGroot, and a stepbrother, Robert Van Abel, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends may call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 9th Street, on Thursday, August 17th from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev.
