Robert Kroll

Robert Kroll, 82, Green Bay resident, died Monday, January 9, 2023, at a local hospital under hospice care. He was born September 1, 1940, in Sturgeon Bay to the late Albert and Marie (Duetsh) Kroll. Bob was a 1958 graduate of Sevastopol High School. He graduated from the University of Madison with a degree in Conservation Management. Bob married his high school sweetheart Gladys Francis on April 22, 1961, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2021.

In his younger years he was an avid baseball player for many years. Bob was inducted into the Door County Baseball Hall of Fame. He loved fishing for trout and salmon and always enjoyed time outside, especially cutting firewood.

Bob was in the insurance industry most of his life requiring multiple moves.  Eventually he and Gladys settled in Green Bay in the early 70’s where he went into sales for American Family Insurance and ultimately, Dart Insurance. In his semi-retirement Bob also sold real estate.

He is survived by two sons, Dr. Mark (Kerrie) Kroll, Luxemburg and Daniel Kroll, Ashland, WI; four grandchildren: Larissa (Adam) Coursin; Jeff Kroll and his fiancée, Caitlin Joski; Matthew (Heather) Kroll and Taylor Kroll and his fiancée, Rachel Cindia; great grandson, Rory Coursin; siblings: Mary Ann Ehlers; Tom (Betty) Kroll; Sue Kroll; Bill (Carol) Kroll and Chuck Kroll, all of Door County, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Kroll; two brothers-in-law, Cliff Ehlers and Dick Kroll; sister-in-law, Julie Kroll.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Friday, January 13, from 10:00 – 11:30 am. Memorial Service 11:30 am Friday at the funeral home with Deacon Jeff Prickette officiating. Burial in Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Bob’s family would like to thank the staff at Anna’s House in New Franken for the past couple years and also Aurora Baycare Medical Center staff who took such good care of him. Lastly, Dr. Erich Quidzinski who was his family physician for many years.
