Ronald A. Rhoads, 85, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at a local hospital. Ron was born on December 13, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa to the late Harry and Eileen (Brubaker) Rhoads. On April 23, 1960, he married Phillis Kramer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Ron loved antiques, especially hunting for Westmoreland Glass. He and Phillis had many fond memories together on their travels pursuing Westmoreland antiques and made many friends along the way. Ron was avid with genealogy and loved researching his family heritage. Discovering a family lineage all the way back to the 16th century. Ron survived many health issues in his life, but as his son-in-law said, “He had that good Iowan stock to overcome any adversity.”
Ron will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Phillis; their two children, Marsha (Tom) Quatsoe and Rhonda Rhoads; grandchildren, Carmen (Chris) Polomis, and Nicholas (Lacey) Quatsoe; great grandchildren, Evelyn and Nora Polomis and Ian and Leta Quatsoe; brothers, Gary (Kay) Bannick, Jules (Mary) Ficke and Greg Rhoads; sister-in-law, Judy Langenberg and brother’s in-law, John, and Tim Kramer. Ron is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his, brother Bruce Rhoads; brother’s-in-law, Daniel, Russell, Charles, and Victor Kramer.
Visitation for Ron will be at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave., on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joshua Errer officiating. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed and can be seen at flcgb.com. Ron will be entombed at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
