Ronald Van Doorn

Ronald John Van Doorn, 73, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.  He was born on August 1, 1947 in Green Bay to the late John and Anna Belle (Champeau) Van Doorn.  After high school, he enlisted in the United State Army serving from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1969.  On December 4, 1967, he married Linda Haslitt at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay.  Ronald worked at Hoida Lumber for 40 years in various positions until his retirement at age 62.  He liked going hunting with the hunting party guys and his best friend, Dennis Basten.  Ronald enjoyed the many family vacations and memories that were created throughout the years.  His greatest joy though were his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda; daughter, Virginia (Randy) Kurth; son, Daniel Van Doorn; granddaughters, Oliveah and Sydnee Kurth; sisters, Valerie Basten and Diane Van Doorn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rick and Joann Haslitt, Lee Haslitt, Diane Haslitt, Debbie and Alan Olson, Rhonda and Ed Manning, Roger and Kim Haslitt; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard, Sr. and Joy Haslitt; sister, Jackie Snyder; best friend and brother-in-law, Dennis Basten, and sister-in-law, Sue Haslitt.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Friday, April 9, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Memorial service 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Deacon Bill Burkel officiating.  Military Honors will conclude the service.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established.
