Russell Fameree

Russell J. Fameree, 92, passed away on Monday evening, October 24, 2022 with his family by his side.  He was born on November 7, 1929, in Casco to the late Nora and Ellen (Delwiche) Fameree.  Russ was a graduate of Casco High School where he excelled in several sports.  He then attended and graduated from UW-Platteville.  Russ served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955.  On June 11, 1955, he married Joan Dhuey at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Casco.  They spent their first year of marriage in Milwaukee, while Joan finished her college education.  He then accepted a position at Luxemburg High School where is taught history, geography and physical education.  He also coached several sports including cross county, basketball, track and football.  He retired in 1991 after 35 years of teaching and coaching.  He loved spending summers at their cottage with their children and grandchildren and enjoyed perch fishing on the Bay.  Russ cherished the time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; children, Lynn (Charlie) Olson, Mike (Julie) Fameree, Mary (Tom) Vargo, Tom (Patty) Fameree and Ann (Steve) Tatro; grandchildren, Nick (Robin) Greiling, Sara (Bob) Denow, Andy (Taylor) Fameree, Amy Fameree, Matt (Laura) Vargo, Mandi (Mark Conmanducci) Vargo, Molly (T.J.) Wagner, Abby Vargo, Alex Fameree, A.J. (Hannah) Fameree, Kara (Andrew) Busch, Melissa (Kenton) Mehlberg, Jake (Rachel) Tatro and Max (Lizzy) Tatro; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Majeski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Judy (Ken) Thiry, Jack (Sandy) Dhuey and Jim (Bev) Dhuey; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Laura Greiling; sister, Arlene Dhuey; and sister-in-law, Jeannine (Wayne) Cooper.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Parish wake service 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Memorial Mass 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev.
