In 1994 Ruth met the love of her life, Harlan Bloy. They were married on May 11, 1996, at Resurrection Catholic Church and shared 26 happy years together.

Ruth served in numerous clerical positions in the area retiring from St. Vincent Hospital after 12 years. Following retirement Ruth and Harlan enjoyed traveling the United States. Ruth was a devout member of Highland Crest Baptist Church practicing a strong faith, which is how she brought up her family and how she lived her life.
