Ruth Tilkens

Ruth Tilkens, 105, began her journey to her eternal life on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Ruth was born on November 3, 1918, to the late Alfred and Frances (Steiner) Marquardt in Maplewood, WI. She was a graduate of East High School in Green Bay. Ruth met and married Harold Tilkens on September 11, 1943, at St. Frances Xavier Cathedral. She was employed at Hudson Sharp which became FMC and later was employed with H.C. Prange Co. in the cosmetic department. Ruth loved sports and worked the Packer game concession stands and was an avid golfer in her later years. She especially enjoyed the company of her family and cherished her time with her grandchildren.

Ruth will be sadly missed by her children, Gary (Julie) Tilkens, Denis (Beth) Tilkens, Mary (Bob) Vander Heyden, and Julie (Craig Pahnke) Skorczewski; grandchildren, David (Renee) Tilkens, Jeff (Carrie) Tilkens, Dayna (Jason) Hilsberg, Andy (Kari) Tilkens, Sarah (Ryan Hartman)Tilkens, Tom (Kayla) Tilkens,  Willie Vander Heyden, Bonnie (Steve) Walczak, Jennifer Kinjerski, Paul Skorczewski, Sam (Debbie) Skorczewski; and 23 great grandchildren. Ruth is further survived by many other family and friends.

In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Harold; her granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Tilkens;  siblings, Eva (Henry) King, Jean (Dick) Rocque, June Marquardt, Rita (Merlin) Van Iten; brothers, Rev. Donald Marquardt, Jim (Peggy) Marquardt, Richard Marquardt, Norbert Marquardt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald (Evelyn) Tilkens, Joyce (Austin) Madigan, Elaine (Jim) Le Mieux, and Robert Tilkens.

Family and friends may call at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St., on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. Ruth will be laid to rest at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at  In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy a memorial will be established in Ruth’s name.

The family extends their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at St. Croix Hospice and the staff at Bellevue Senior Living for the care and compassion given to Ruth and her family.
