Sherry A. Atchison, 52, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 7, 2021. She was born December 31, 1968, in Portsmouth, VA to Terry and Beverly Van Lieshout.
Sherry was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, Class of 1986, and later attended Mount Mary College. Sherry started her military career in the Naval Reserves, later enlisting for active duty and was stationed in the Philippines where she met Lewis “Jay” Atchison. They were married in Green Bay on March 14, 1992, at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Together they were stationed in San Diego. She was medically discharged from the Navy in 1997 becoming a full-time homemaker. Sherry attended DeVry University and earned a degree in networking. For several years, she worked at jobs in networking until her health required her to remain at home. Sherry enjoyed her spare time creating diamond art pictures that have become treasured possessions of many of her family members and friends. In 2005, following Jay’s retirement form the U.S. Navy, they relocated to Green Bay.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Lewis “Jay”; her children, Kysha (Matthew) Lansaw, Cassaundra (Cody) Duprey; her grandchildren, Montana, Adeline, Sebastian, K’lynn, Jennifer, Elijah, as well as one more on the way; her parents, Terry and Beverly Van Lieshout; her mother-in-law, Joy Atchison, as well as close aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Lewis A. Atchison, Sr.; her grandparents, Kenneth and Yvonne Van Lieshout, Emmet and Anna Mae Bain; and her uncle, David Bain.
Friends may call at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Drive, on Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Mark VanderSteeg officiating. Burial will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be given at www.prokowall.com.
