Wayne “Buck” Phillips

Wayne J. “Buck” Phillips, 68, Humboldt resident, died Wednesday evening, May 29, 2019, at a local care facility. He was born February 20, 1951 in the Town of Eaton to the late Clifford and Lucille (Lamal) Phillips. Buck graduated from Preble High School in 1969. He married the former Barbara Jacobs on July 28, 1973 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2008. Buck owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Eaton until retirement. Buck was especially fond of his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish.

 He is survived by three children: Sara (Dale Jr) Rouse; Laura Phillips and her special friend, Stevie Armstrong and Eric (Stephanie) Phillips; four grandchildren, Ethan and Abigail Rouse, Zachary Phillips, Graysen Phillips and one on the way; two sisters, Elaine (Dale) Dorner and Mary (Jim) Mathu, his mother-in-law, Eleanor Jacobs; brother-in-law, Scott Jacobs and special friend, Helen; three sisters-in-law: Beverly Jacobs; Sharon “Peaches” Jacobs and special friend John and Connie (Steve) Larscheid, many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve “Budda” Phillips, sister, Darlene DeGreef; brother-in-law, Steve “Jake” Jacobs, nephew, Stevie Larscheid and father-in-law, Lloyd Jacobs.

 Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4:00-7:00 pm Sunday. A parish wake service will be held at 7:00 pm to close the evening. Visitation will continue on Monday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Rd. after 9:30 am Monday until the time of funeral. Funeral Mass 11:00 am Monday at the church with Rev. Robert Rhyner officiating. Burial in Holy Martyrs Cemetery. In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund has been established in his name. Buck’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Bellin Hospital as well as Unity Hospice.
