Helen Gillis

Helen Katherine Gillis, 92, of Green Bay, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at her home.  She was born July 5, 1928, in New London, Connecticut, the daughter of Frank and Marian Gunther.  Helen met a young Navy sailor attending Submarine School in New London.  The couple became engaged two weeks later, and married within months on April 24, 1946.  Following the end of the World War II, Helen and Harold moved to Green Bay and never looked back. They had celebrated their 69th anniversary in 2015, and Harold preceded her in death  on May 25, 2015. 

Helen had been employed Diana Manufacturing and the pickle factor, retiring early when her children were young to devote her time and talents to motherhood.  Her daughter Dorie describes her as a good Mom, a good Grandma and a good friend to all she knew. 

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Doreen “Dorie” Gillis, who lived with her Mother and Pamela (Kelley) Quick, Green Bay; three grandchildren, Kyle Quick and twins, Karen and Kelly Jo Quick.  Helen is also survived by relatives in Connecticut. 

Due to COVID restrictions, private services will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. .  Entombment will be in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
