Eugene Van Enkevort

Eugene Henry Van Enkevort, 87, Oneida resident, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Saturday, September 5, 2020, wrapped in the arms, prayers, and thoughts of those who loved him and whom he loved. He was born May 26, 1933, in De Pere to the late Vincent and Amelia (Hock) Van Enkevort. Gene served in the US Army from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1962. He married the former Luella Enderby in 1953. She preceded him in death.

 Following Gene’s discharge from the army, he was employed by Gauthier Construction. He then began employment at Paper Converting retiring in 1995. Gene was a member of the American Legion Sullivan-Wallen Post 11. He was an outdoor enthusiast enjoying hunting and fishing with family and friends. Gene enjoyed traveling, both for work and for pleasure and saw most of the world. Gene adored his family and treasured all the time spent with each and every one of them. He was able to see all his children and grandchildren during his final two weeks of life.

 Gene is survived by his very special friend of 27 years, Barb Meyer, his nine children: Geno Van Enkevort, Minong, WI; Lynn (Chuck) Mc Carrell, Ledgeview; Debbie (Lou) Clark, Howard; Rick (Teri) Van Enkevort, De Pere; Randy Van Enkevort, Clintonville; Julie (Scott) Coppersmith, Green Bay; Lori (Jeff) Boushele, Hortonville; Lisa (Henry) Thompson, Austin, TX, and Brad (Jami) Van Enkevort, Howard; 19 grandchildren: Louie Clark, Dawn Winkelman, Renee Landvatter, Jacob Clark, Jordan Clark, Philip Clark, Heidi Van Enkevort, Ryan Van Enkevort, Tyler Van Enkevort, Adam Van Enkevort, Tricia Barrette, Nicki Davister, Cole Van Enkevort, Alex Coppersmith, Eric Coppersmith, Jelissa Hawkins, Haley Pluet, Ross Van Enkevort and Brady Van Enkevort; 38 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Elaine Green, Freedom; Gail Gerrits, Green Bay and Cheri (Jay) Hewitt, Seymour; one brother, David (Kathy) Van Enkevort, Freedom; one brother-in-law, John Giles; many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Meghan; three sisters, Joyce, Bernice (Bill) Aerts and Sandy Giles; two brothers-in-law, Len Green and Jim Gerrits.

 Friends may call at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Dr. on Saturday, September 12, from 9:00 am until time of Mass. Memorial Mass at 11:00 am Saturday at the church with Rev. Paul Demuth officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to the Van Enkevort family at www.prokowall.com.
