Our dear Mother, Mary Ruth Wesselman Warpinski, Town of Eaton, passed away Sunday January 3, 2021 surrounded by family.

Born January 20, 1935 to the late Elmer and Gertrude Wesselman in Pilot Grove MO, she married Louis S Warpinski, of Eaton, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in rural Boonville MO on September 3, 1955.  He preceded her in death on September 17, 2001.

A 1955 graduate of the DePaul Hospital School of Nursing of St. Louis MO, Mary Ruth completed her state licensing boards while on her honeymoon and started married life in San Antonio TX while Louis completed his Air Force service.  Upon Louis’s discharge from the Air Force, the couple moved to Eaton WI and built their life as farmers and raising nine children.  Mary Ruth continued her nursing career at St Mary’s in Green Bay, eventually shifting to St Vincent’s.  She specialized in Obstetrics, and as her skill and expertise grew, she qualified as a midwife.  She spent a decade assisting at home births, and loved every minute of it.  When the physician she was working with retired, she shifted back to hospital-based Labor & Delivery, picking up a job at Kaukauna Community Hospital in Kaukauna WI.  She especially loved rocking the babies while she cared for them and their mothers.

Mary Ruth was beloved daughter, sister, friend, nurse, farmer’s wife, sister-in-law, aunt, mother, Babcia, and great-grandmother.  She stayed active in church and 4H her entire life.  She was also active in La Leche League as a leader and consultant, participated in a bowling league, and was an avid reader.   Mary Ruth loved to travel, going on frequent trips across the United States with family, La Leche League, and 4-H, but sometimes just traveling to see the sites.

When multiple sclerosis confined her to a wheelchair, Mary Ruth continued to teach all of us to be compassionate and kind to everyone, especially those who are obviously different.  Her grandchildren loved her wheelchair rides.
